I bought one of these holders in 2019, which lasted me until last week. Great holder. The problem is that Amazon was supposed to have delivered it two days ago and today I got an email telling me it won't be delivered for two more days and if it isn't delivered in two days, ask for a refund. I don't want a refund; I want the holder.UPDATE: Wow. Amazon must really read these reviews (or AI picks up key words). In any case, shortly after I wrote this, noting the delay in delivery, I got an email saying the holder would be delivered later in the day. It was. As I said previously, my first holder was purchased in 2019, so five years of working great says something to me for an inexpensive product. The holder is well worth the money and the second one I received yesterday is already installed in my SUV. Terrific product! Read more

It threads different...to tighten it into you cup holder you turn it to the left not right (hence the phrase: righty - tighty) Which is a nice feature because it prevents you from over tightening or stripping it out which would be tough in the first place and causing any damage to the holder.This thing is stout. The neck is thick and it takes some strength to man handle it into the perfect angle for your riding position, glare, eye level, etc. But once you've got it dialed in, it'll never move unless you want it to. In the box I could have sworn it was 100% metal but the ABS plastic they must use is industrial grade. My dog crawls over this thing 10 times when we're going somewhere and the neck remains in place, as hard as my Chihuahua tries to send a text with those long nails, not happening Dexter. The gripper might wobble a teeny bit but it's not going anywhere. And the design to have it clamped from the sides with a lot of surface area, supported with 2 braces from the bottom and still allowing my power cord to come up from underneath and have easy access and the one-touch quick release to pull it out of the gripper....and it's not falling apart after how many thousands of releases I"ve done to pull the phone out and go walking mobile.My only minor issue would bet the plastic has a nice pro finish to it that it's kind of slick and my hand strength isn't what it use to be. but that's not the products fault. If my dog Dexter had opposing thumbs I'd make him screw it in there - and it's easy to take in and out when you're washing your car and you wanna get the dog hair out from under your MCUP or all that console crap. Tip/trick - I had some black soft sticky backed tape that I cut into about 1/2" by 1" pieces and stuck to the outside perimeter of the base of the unit. So when you tighten the base, this sticky closed cell foam tape really grips the sidewalls of your cup holder, regardless of what you drive. Helps here in Colorado as we have roads that are just slightly better than Fallujah or Beirut in the 70's. I actually was very excited to purchase this item (or one of the several brands available). I will admit that it takes a bit getting used to when trying to twist the base section section so that it fits snuggly into the cup holder.There is a convenient push button on the phone frame holder that allows the sides to slide wider to accommodate phone size, and, then, you need to just push the side frame grippers back alongside the phone so it is framed firmly. The phone “frame holder” should easily fit around most phones - it fit my iPhone 6plus and I made sure it would fit a larger and smaller phone, as well. My only complaint is that I think the bottom “lip” of the Phone holder is narrow, and that makes it a little tricky to situate your phone if you happen to have a phone case on your phone. My phone protector isn’t really all that thick, but it took me a few tries to get the phone to be gripped securely enough so we were able to bend the arm to a desired angle for easy viewing, without the phone slipping out. However, I did manage to get it all set up and angled so that my husband and I could easily glance at it for GPS guidance, etc. (Our vehicle does have its own GPS system, but we no longer subscribe to the service, so the program isn’t updated - hence our reliance upon our Google Maps program in our iPhones.). I think that the item also allows for a safer hands-free environment when an incoming call or message arrives, etc.ADDED AFTER COUPLE USES: Well, I probably would still keep my rating at 4 stars, but only because I noticed that some buyers commented that they had more “problems” with other brands of this item type. WANTED TO MENTION that when you do try to manipulate the neck area in order to get correct angle, do so by using the neck and not by using the phone holder portion. While you might think that the side grippers have snuggly gripped your phone/case, it could easily become loose and flop out! The Lip Area at the bottom of the phone holder does have two little feet that “swing out” to help you position your phone; still, even with a thinner phone case - with a top of the line silicone or rubber-type protector style - the side rubber/foam side grippers still don’t seem to guarantee a secure and tight fit. Try positioning phone before you begin your journey as the last thing you need is added aggravation of your phone flipping out when you are supposed to be focussing on the road and its surroundings, instead of worrying about trying to retrieve your phone that is now underneath the passenger seat! I don’t think I would purchase any cup holder item like this, again, as it ended up becoming a bit of a nuisance when both my husband and I were traveling together, and he felt he couldn’t pull his mug in and out of his cup holder, with this sitting in the one next to it. LMAO. My son prefers the dashboard holder with the magnetic holder? He feels it is safer for him as it is more at window level and doesn’t require him to avert his eyes from the road very much. . easier to take in with your peripheral vision. I suppose if you are driving through a phone free area, one might remove it; however, I question how police can challenge someone who uses their phone while driving much like any GPS unit that is stationary and requires no hands. Even the GPS units in our cars (if you happen to feel like paying for those subscriptions to keep them updated) require us to glance at it for direction from time to time, and the radio dial requires us to take one hand off wheel to turn a knob or press a button. I got two of these. One version had a shorter goose neck and two wings (like a wing nut) you use to turn and secure into the cup holder. One of these wings easily snapped off removing from the cup holder. Also these have a release button that after you place your phone into the vice portion and squeeze the two clamps together to hold your phone, you push and the clamps releases slowly. Very nice if it works. The one with the broken wing requires you to force the clamps apart manually while holding in the button. The second version I order works great and appears to be made better. Works great with iPhone 10R. Face recognition works while driving when phone is in holder. The difference between the two is the sketchy one has the wings at the bottom to twist and tighten into the cup and the release button for clamps is on the side. The good one has a nut to turn at the bottom of the goose neck to tighten into the cup and the release button for the clamps is on the back. This version is great. Read more
